Poems Against the Demagogue — Workshop with Arlo Quint

This workshop will be centered around the study of demagogic language. We’ll pay special attention to the mechanisms underlying linguistic propaganda described in Jason Stanley’s How Propaganda Works and Theodor Adorno’s catalog of rhetorical devices used by the 1930s fascist-style demagogue and radio personality Martin Luther Thomas. While we study this language, we’ll work collectively to theorize and practice writing poems against the demagogue.

This workshop is now full. To be added to the waitlist, email Laura at lh@poetryproject.org.
