“HOUSE FIRE STENCILS” by Arlo Quint

HOUSE FIRE STENCILS

no one knows or has to be told what happiness is for
why not transform into the stars, the heavens?

Julian Sorel forgets the grim role of the rebel plebeian
the Prince and the Genie probably disappear into essential health

in Bamiyan two buddhas together with everything
crossed out around them   rise into a dream
a lightning flash
or cloud

the Christmas gifts were rent-to-own
and repossessed in February
for want of a well-considered alias
or sympathy

child skeleton flowers necklace   Wojnarowitz notes
ascending a ladder   over the globe
created as a symbol   which is reaching out
