Poem by Isabel Sobral Campos

Nuanced flick of the head framed by horizon,
walking like a ghost in trance.

& the otherworldly in a moose’s stare.

Decapitated mountains have begun falling (not only in my dreams).

The apex pops like a dead flower.

Leaf count
stunt hair follicles
on old man’s head.

The parched caves,

her folly
carved shadow on sand (and the sea rising).

Everywhere entropy abounding.

Leaf center wracked by night.

Coned by a last drop
lingering in the burn.

The whitewashed sun.
