The Poetry Project has been closely following information and recent developments around COVID-19. In light of escalating reports of the virus' transmission within NYC, and given the highly contagious spread observed elsewhere, and the close proximity of our particular space, we will be postponing all readings, performances, and events presently scheduled March 11 through at least May 1. We may reassess beyond this date depending on further updates in the coming days.
A number of these impacted events have already been rescheduled, and we will also be offering the option of full refunds on previously purchased tickets.
We feel a deep commitment to the poets, performers, and artists who have given extensive time to share their work; we also know The Project is an important gathering space for many. We are working quickly to reschedule all events, and will be continuing to pay affected poets, artists, technicians, and event staff.
We know many of our peers at other organizations and venues share this commitment to their communities, and experience the related pressure of relying on some extent to sustaining their work through events. We hope that writers, readers, audiences, and partners will join us in finding new ways of supporting and engaging with one another during this time.
There is so much new work we're excited about — we will be sharing more with you through publications and digital media for the time being, and look forward to coming together again for events in the future.
