RECLAMATIONS

On Wednesday August 12, The Poetry Project, in partnership with Alone Gallery, will present RECLAMATIONS, an evening of readings and performances exploring new manifestations of space, memory, connection, and possibility. Within continued turbulence and uncertainty, we look to poets and artists who are reaching across distance, challenging the norm, raising up often hidden histories and presences, and constituting new terrains of future. RECLAMATIONS takes place in a park adjacent to Alone Gallery -- itself a location rich with history, as the former site of a fabled queer bar and gathering place in Wainscott.

Public Health Precautions
We are following (and exceeding) recommendations laid out by NY State for outdoor gatherings. These include: limiting the number of attendees, including event participants, to under 50; setting up seating with fixed and socially distant spacing; requiring and providing face masks, as well hand sanitizer stations. We will have 2-3 microphones on hand, and will be rotating / sanitizing these between readings. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance. Walk-up attendance and direction to seating will be managed day-of based on our event capacity of 50. Food and drinks will be pre-prepared and available; for the sake of safety, aside from groups who arrive together, we ask that attendees refrain from eating and speaking without masks in groups. We are grateful to attendees for helping us maintain safety within our present public health context, and look forward to holding meaningful shared listening space together.
