Achille Tenkiang is a poet, essayist, and culture worker of Cameroonian descent, raised in Delaware. His work treats place as both inheritance and rupture, moving across the geographies that shaped him — Cameroon, France, and the US. He holds a B.A. from Princeton, where he was recognized as the first student in the university's history to earn a degree in African Studies, through an independent concentration of his own design, and an M.A. from University College Dublin, where he was a Mitchell Scholar. A 2024 Poetry Project Scholarship recipient and a 2026 Brooklyn Poets fellow, he has performed his work at venues including Paris Lit Up, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, and the BBC's Cultural Frontline. His essays have appeared in Vogue, Africa Is a Country, and Republic Journal. He is completing his debut poetry collection, Eulogy in a Minor Flat. "After Bhanu Kapil's 12 Questions," the penultimate poem of the collection, is the winner of the 2026 Brannan Prize.
