Alba Delia Hernández was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Her work is often a hybrid of fiction, poetry and personal narrative. She is a graduate of Columbia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is a recipient of the Bronx Council of the Arts First Chapter Award and Columbia University’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Literature Writing. She has been teaching creative writing to students in New York City public schools for over fifteen years with Teachers & Writers Collaborative. She is also a passionate yoga teacher who loves to stand on her head.
