julie ezelle patton’s recent work includes the Flower Poem (Tender Buttons Press, 2025); the forthcoming J Walking thru the Alphabet (Nightboat Books, 2026); and ARKiTEXT (Chicago Review: Vol. 67, 2024), which sheds light on a live-in readymade featuring works by early 20th Century Karamu creatives Russell Atkins, Cliff Clay, Virgie Ezelle Patton, and others. ezelle-patton, a recipient of an Acker Award, a Doan Brook Watershed Hero Award, Foundation for Contemporary Art awards, MFA, Houston Core Resident Fellowship and Denniston Hill Residency, patton enjoys in the moment collaborations with instrumentalists Nasheet Waits, Janice Lowe, Drew Gardner, Andrew Levy, and Abou Farman’s Ad Hoc Collective for Improvising Mourning Technologies for Future Grief with Sholegh Asgary.
