Raisa Desypri

Raisa Desypri is a curator and researcher who was born and raised in Athens, Greece.

She moved to London, where she completed a BA in History of Art & Curating, as well as an MA in Visual Anthropology & Digital Media at Goldsmiths University, before moving to Berlin where she now works and lives.

Having spent the entirety of her adult life in countries foreign to the one she grew up in, Raisa is fascinated by the idea of home and nostalgia. Her creative practice, but also curatorial work, tends to centre around ideas of identity, belonging, memory, homeness as well as integration/dislocation.

She is primarily interested in visual art and writing as forms of auto-ethnography, and she is the founder of ASTRO - @thisisastromag - a creative archive and research collective on themes of home, belonging & dislocation, that focuses on documenting those through exhibitions, workshops and performances.

One of the most recent shows she curated “Squeeze”, was chosen to be part of VORSPIEL 2023, the event series by Transmediale and CTM festival in Berlin.
