Zaina Alsous works in the labor movement in South Florida and is the author of the poetry collection A Theory of Birds (University of Arkansas Press, 2019), winner of the Norma Farber First Book Award and the Etel Adnan Poetry Prize. Her family descends from the Palestinian villages of Umm al-fahm and I’billin. Her grandparents were displaced from the land during the Nakba in 1948.
