#269 – Summer 2022

Sarah Kirby's artwork, an ink and paint piece on white cloth background, composes a dreamscape from collaged modules: in the top left corner, a god-like figure seems to rain from its fingertips; in the top right corner, four more gods breathe wind into a red sky. A green moon hands below, a landscape and a car driving through the night; a grinning man in a straightjacket. Three birds from the neck up, in a repeated rhythm; a woman's face cut into two parts, she's looking at us. Rows of smiling stars threatened by soldiers with guns. And in the bottom row, a cluster of teddy bears. The main colors are: yellows, cool green, and various shades of red.
