SONIC’S HEART’S HOME

no longer the eyes of prison ships – Rimbaud

for David Henderson

A documentary

 night

misses

 you the

one echoes back

misses

 yr reflection too

echoes. Back

 what home?

a hibernating

word

   all our homemade

art

misses

you

Umbra’s  mind

attuned to the

  counter music

move that other

   realm over

loose ends & missing

to mourn tonight

   not remorse

just misses

see you, lift

 head   hat

eye without pain

Your shadow

down the page

this sad

 quantum is to

cleanse

torture out

lift again start again

the

people’s team

poets are immortal

truth outside

now

a mote out of doubt

no more suffering

inside not missing

& what you control

sacred & yours: hard core

still misses the city

just across the bridge

 get

me

there?

last words with you

Re: Victor Cruz

& Rimbaud

and “getting out”

heard Jayne Cortez

“in my ear of Sat night specials”

not yet a world yet

without you

old time new

with ancient jazz

music of

this future

or strident Hendrix mix

know I’ll keep seeing you

bounce back all dignity

against all

the idiots

New York‘s New York

we got the golden age

in a pocket

rode the chariot

you were there

a pace

we were there

 shared a ride

discernment

 for our time

the struggle

 hearts all in

way back

vulnerable

remember clay tablets

we lived off

edible

roots

another

century

down under

downtown

that way

walks free

last grasp

of humanity?

cruel endtime

rattling of hounds

  in the library

the point is

what you know

  is a light

never saw you without

book in

 hand

all the words a

  music lit and

at St Mark’s

you said

“got to keep moving” it was

always intervention

cultural, spiritual

Steve Cannon’s sendoff

and  “we got to

keep our carnival laugh.”

Remembrances: David Henderson (1942 – 2026)
