Bodily Haptic Realities: A Deep Study Session with Ama Codjoe

“In times like these” which are perpetual, how can we ground ourselves in the real? Although a quick internet search will likely link haptic to digital technology, this session aims to investigate the tactile in relationship to embodied habits like reading, handwriting, notetaking, and drawing. Participants will read, discuss, and write shared texts. We will take inspiration from writers and artists such as Renee Gladman, Terrance Hayes, and Mary Ruefle. The goal of this experiential session is to identify, inhabit, and practice these habits communally in preparation for our solitary and collaborative work. To that end, please plan to be present, on camera, and to participate as fully as possible for the three-hour session.
