In the poetry of danilo machado and Jasmine Gibson, we are reminded that every law and every story is written on the body, the consequences of which include the proliferation of property and of loss, as we simultaneously witness a great rewriting of the body on the land, desiring and remembering things that are better than they’ve been, lovers at the colony’s periphery, temporarily evading its gaze.
