Ekphrasis with Mirror

Miguel Coronado

here
a radically other self manifesting
“even as if your beloved”
and “all the blessed dead”
were in the poem with you
trying to wear a room
like a golden, rectilinear dress
to transform my desire
to a shape I can fathom
that would not belong to me
though it may render me visible
reconciled
to the object in the mirror
this is only adding to the mess
