Joe Brainard's Pansies is an overflowing collage of cut out pansies. Though there are many colors of pansies, they all tend towards a kind of burning depth. The presence of black toward the center of the petals is notable—most form a pattern of two marks on top, one mark on bottom, producing almost confrontational, face-like encounters.
