Celebration of Assotto Saint’s Sacred Spells: Collected Works

Please join the Poetry Project and Nightboat in celebrating the publication of Assotto Saint's Sacred Spells: Collected Works. Featuring readings by Jaime Shearn Coan, Reginald Harris, Walter Holland, Michele Karlsberg, danilo machado, Emmanuel Olunkwa, Urayoán Noel, Tavia Nyong’o, Pamela Sneed, Sur Rodney Sur, Kiyan Williams, Emanuel Xavier, and more TBA.

Assotto Saint was a dancer, poet, writer, critic, artist, AIDS activist, multi-hyphenate and unhyphenatably-singular figure in queer, Black, and Haitian arts and literary cultures of the 1980s and early 1990s. This astonishing collection of over 500 pages gathers Saint's poetry, plays, fiction, and performance texts, and is a testament to Saint's multidimensional and deeply felt, held, and sustained influence on contemporary arts and culture.
